Summer Picnic MusicFest 2003
On Saturday, June 28th from 11am to 10pm, Christians of many different ethnicities and denominations from all over the Twin Cities gathered for a giant Church Picnic at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. This year we teamed with KTIS radio to make this the biggest and best summer picnic thus far. For an inspiring glimpse of the richness in diversity of the Body of Christ in the Twin Cities, you won't want to miss this fun and enjoyable day!
Our mission, to intentionally bring the Church together across racial and denominational lines for a day of worship, fellowship and bridge-building, will continue. We will also continue our mission of featuring local, racially diverse musical worship groups on stage throughout the day. We will have a block of kid’s activities including pony rides and a petting zoo and inflatable rides. We will be inviting congregations from across the Twin Cities to rent a tent and have place for their congregation to meet together and picnic outdoors during the day. And we will have a large area for Christian, businesses, ministries and schools. And all of this we will offer for FREE again this year! But along with all of those things that have made the Summer Picnic special these past 5 years, this year we are also adding a ticketed area featuring 3 national Christian groups. We are thrilled to tell you that KTIS is joining us by hosting these concerts as the ticketed part of the Summer Picnic. They are embracing our mission of making this a racially diverse event and as of this writing, Nicole C. Mullen, the Katinas and Sonic Flood have been booked for this event. These individual concerts will be spread out across the day, with the first concert around noon, the second around 3:30 and the last around 7 PM. We are also looking into having a fireworks display at the end of the night. Tickets for these concerts will be sold in advance and KTIS is projecting ticket sales of 13,000 for the national concerts alone! With this new set-up, anyone can come all day for free and enjoy the kid’s activities, vendor tents and music throughout the day from local worship groups. Or if they want, they can pay for the concerts and also take part in all of the free events being offered in between the national artist concerts.
