Dan and Sandy Adler have been married and have been performing together since 1984. They are both graduates of Crown College. They have two children, Danielle and Ben, and live in the Minneapolis, Minnesota area. They have recorded three CD's of their own featuring songs that Dan has written. In December of 1997, they released a 16 song compilation CD of their music called “Songs of Courage”. They have also been featured on four of the albums that have been recorded through their former churches’ record label “OUT OF THE DOOR MUSIC”. In the spring of 1999 they released a worship CD featuring 13 of Dan’s songs with the Heart of the City Worship Band called “What We Really Need” and at the beginning of 2002, they released another worship CD called “With One Voice” with the Heart of the City Band featuring 12 of Dan’s songs and in 2006 they released their third CD with the Heart of the City Worship Band featuring 12 more of Dan’s songs entitled “It All Belongs to You”. Dan was the Minister of Music and Worship at the Church of the Open Door in Minneapolis, Minnesota for 11 years. The Adler’s saw the church grow from 350 attendee’s to over 5000 in the weekend worship services during that time. Under Dan’s leadership, Open Door had a worship ministry involving over 145 musicians in worship teams. From 1994 to 1997, while still on staff at Open Door, Dan was a part time staff member of the Promisekeeper’s ministry. He traveled about six times a year to different cities around the country leading worship at Promisekeeper’s Foundations seminars. From 1990 to 1996, Sandy was the key worship leader and music coordinator for Open Door’s growing “Women in Worship” ministry. Sandy has also been a speaker for women’s events. In 1993, Dan began a publishing and recording arm of the church called "OUT OF THE DOOR MUSIC". He was involved in co-producing three albums called "Songs from the Open Door - Volume One, Two and Three" and overseeing the production of “Kid’s Songs from the Open Door - Vol. 1” on that label. These albums featured songs written by Dan and other Open Door songwriters and the worship team members as musicians.
In June of 1996, Dan resigned from his Music Minister position at the Church of the Open Door so that he and Sandy could begin a new para-church ministry called “Heart of the City Ministries”. This ministry is primarily focused on promoting and leading, regular city-wide worship celebrations in Minneapolis and in St. Paul. These events are focused on crossing denominational and racial barriers in uniting believers in worship and prayer. The vision is to be a bridge-building activity between races and denominations to encourage, strengthen and unite the diverse Body of Christ in their area through celebrative, musical worship experiences. These events are led by Dan and Sandy and their 22 piece inter-racial Heart of the City Worship Band. The Adlers also travel outside of the Twin Cities with the Heart of the City Worship Band doing worship concerts focusing on unity in the Body of Christ. Besides the ministry of Heart of the City, the Adlers also have a ministry as featured guest speaker/worship leaders in congregations across the midwest leading what they call Worship Renewal Weekends. Dan and Sandy have been regular featured worship leaders at the Billy Graham Training Center “The Cove” and Dan has also been a featured conference speaker at events such as Music Minnesota, Music Texas and Music Florida. From 2004 through 2006, Dan served as the Worship Pastor at Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota.
